The new Projects and Programs Fund August 2014 application data fact sheet (PDF) (205.41 KB) provides information about who applied, how much was requested and the specific communities targeted by some of the applications.

The Projects and Programs Fund provides support towards projects and programs that create vibrant arts and cultural experiences for Queensland.

Here’s some key statistics about the round:

  •  148 applications, 30 successful (20% success rate)
  •  visual arts, craft and design had the highest number of applications, followed by community engagement
  •  visual arts had the highest number of successful applicants (10 successful)*
  •  average amount requested was $37,484 with successful applicants receiving an average of 87% of their initial request
  •  87% of successful applicants and 72% of unsuccessful applicants had applied to Arts Queensland previously
  •  41% of applicants identified as coming from a regional area with 54% of applications having a regional Queensland focus
  •  18% of applicants identified as young people and 38% of applications had a focus on young people.

This fact sheet complements feedback published on Arts Queensland’s Funding Recipients webpage. Insights and advice from the industry peers who assessed the applications can be found here. They noted that successful applications were able to:

  •  articulate clear proof of concept and demand
  •  generate a high level return on investment
  •  demonstrate due diligence in preparation and research – i.e. show that the project has been thoroughly researched with solid planning
  •  provide a clear, concise and accurate budget
  •  clearly evidence partnerships and how they will contribute to project outcomes.

Successful applicants were more likely to have applied to Arts Queensland previously, suggesting that even an unsuccessful application can be a learning experience.

Information about completed projects with reflections and advice from recipients can be found on the Case Studies page.

The Projects and Programs Fund has moved to a rolling program, and opened on 23 March 2015. Applicants are strongly encouraged to make contact with Arts Queensland prior to submission of their applications to determine the suitability of their proposals.

* The high success rate of visual arts applications in this round was in part due to commitments under the Visual Arts and Craft Strategy – a Federal Government partnership with Arts Queensland
