The Queensland Government is seeking your feedback on a name for the new theatre.

Work is underway to install the bespoke curved glass façade for the new theatre under construction at the Queensland Cultural Centre with more than a third of the 217 panels installed.

The latest progress includes the construction of an internal “birdcage” scaffold, weighing 200 tonnes, to support fitout works within the theatre’s auditorium. 

Construction of the new performing arts venue has ramped up in 2023 as the structural elements of the new theatre become visible and distinctive features of the theatre start to take shape.

2022 has seen significant progress on the new performing arts venue with major milestones achieved. Progression of the structural elements of the building have allowed internal activities to commence, with work ramping up within the construction site.

First Nations artists Megan Cope and Brian Robinson have been shortlisted for a major First Nations public art commission, which will be showcased as part of the new theatre at the Queensland Cultural Centre.

2021 has been a huge year of progress for the New Performing Arts Venue (NPAV) project. In December 2020, Lendlease completed the enabling and earth works components, and now a year later the new theatre is starting to take shape following two large concrete pours to form the first concrete slabs of the new theatre auditorium. 

Lendlease is continuing construction of the New Performing Arts Venue project with works progressing up to Level 2 of the new theatre.  

Queensland’s new state-of-the-art theatre is taking shape providing jobs and opportunities for apprentices in Brisbane.

Work is progressing well on the construction of QPAC’s New Performing Arts Venue (NPAV), supported by the project’s two tower cranes that are lifting materials and equipment as the structure of the theatre starts to take shape.
