Arts Queensland Resources Update – issue 6 of 2015

Arts Acumen

The Arts Acumen calendar hosts a variety of workshops and information sessions that aim to assist the Queensland arts sector in a range of professional development areas. These are free events are available to anyone working within the Queensland arts and cultural sector. We’ll also regularly highlight events hosted by other organisations that may be of interest to the sector.

Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade – Australia Latin America Relations

The Council on Australia Latin America Relations (COALAR) provides funding through a competitive grants program for projects across Latin America and Australia. There is a two-stage application process for the COALAR Grants Program. The first stage involves applicants submitting an Expression of Interest online closing date of 9 April 2015.
 
 Foundation for Regional and Rural Renewal – Small Grants for Rural Communities

The Foundation for Regional and Rural Renewal has grants of up to $5,000 available for projects and activities that offer clear public benefit for communities in rural, regional or remote Australia. Priority is given to communities of 10,000 or fewer. Applications close on 27 March 2015.
 
Brisbane City Council’s Rhizome: Creative Arts Symposium

Rhizome: creative arts symposium is a super-charged, interactive and participatory free event for all Brisbane creatives. Based on a knowledge-sharing model of facilitated group conversations, this is action-oriented learning focusing on how we put ourselves and our work out there in the world and build audience, markets and fans. Designed to be fun, and with maximum time for collaboration and creativity, exchanging insights and ideas, and getting to know other creatives from across art forms, all in one day.

This event is presented by Brisbane City Council on Thursday 19 March 2015, 9.30am for 10am-5pm at Queensland Multicultural Centre Auditorium, 102 Main Street, Kangaroo Point. Bookings are essential as places are limited.

John Villiers Trust

The John Villiers Trust supports people and organisations to build more equitable communities and alleviate disadvantage, particularly in rural and regional communities. In particular, it support projects in Central, Northern and Outback Queensland which seek to strengthen local communities and bridge the tyranny of distance. One of its five focus areas is arts and culture. The closing date for 2015 is 20 March 2015.

 Australia Council grants 

The Australia Council 2015 grants programs have rounds closing on 2 June, 1 September and 1 December 2015 and potential applicants are encouraged to contact Australia Council to seek guidance on formulating your proposal. The funding categories are:

  •  Development Grants for Individuals and Groups – $5,000 – $25,000
  •  Arts Projects for Individuals and Groups – $10,000 – $50,000
  •  Arts Projects – Organisations – $10,000 to $150,000
